I worked on the SRE and Devops teams mostly while at Bed Bath, but wore many hats during quite a few different projects.  Modernizing their aging setup was a key goal.  Going from a colocated monolith legacy system to geographically distributed cloud based microservices. Bringing modern methodology to the company. I also participated in the 24x7 oncall rotation.Our team created a custom CI/CD app, written mostly in Jenkins groovy/pipelines, used by ourselves as well as the other departments o develop apps and promote those changes through our ticketing (Jira) and revision control (git + docker) to be promoted to infrastructure (VMware/GCP Kubernetes/GCP VM’s/Spinnaker) and included code testing, sonarqube, metrics monitoring integration with Stackdriver, NewRelic, and SumoLogic.

The company was moving from it's original monolith ruby on rails app to a microservices architechture, As such we implemented, tested and setup monitoring for the new microservices in the cloud environments, as well as in colo datacenters.  I also participated in the 24x7 oncall rotation.The QA/Dev/Test environment at OKL was extensive, utilizing thousands of VM's for all the envs.  All of which had to be monitored, managed, and deployed to using our custom deployment systems, which kept all the environments in sync.The deployment system was custom, written in ruby, shell and python.  And was a push button system to deploy various developer branches to their respective env, complete with key/value pair replacement based on which env you're deploying to.

Responsible for all systems the company ran with a focus on the Ecommerce (Linux/Redhat) systems,  but including working on the Windows systems (Active Directory, internal DNS, IIS, SFTP, FTPS, proprietary software on .NET) as well as the Oracle DB's, and internal corporate systems.Oversaw the PCI compliance of the Ecommerce environment, from the first round forward.Migrated our systems from a standard colo to CenturyLink, a cloud based provider.  Setup a disaster recovery environment in a second datacenter with CenturyLink, with which we would routinely cut back and forth between the two in order to display readiness of either location at any given moment.  Over the last two years we have been migrating services to AWS.

Hired to work with java developers and database administrators setting up a custom online Compliance Certification application on Tomcat, across hardware load balancers between both the java application servers and apache 2.0 web servers, both systems Redhat 9, with an Oracle 9i backend database on Solaris, as well designing and maintaining the QA and development environment for this product. 	For the custom java application, created my own nagios plugins to verify constant performance, also created other mrtg plugins for nagios.	Maintained an existing 24-7 online training course web application custom written in perl running on RedHat 9. The online training course, utilized by many of the Global 1000 companies, uses hardware load balancers across the multiple web servers, mod_perl, apache, multiple QA and development environments with regularly requested modifications and additions. 	Some regular activities included compiling the latest versions of the java Certification program with Ant and, deploying to the various QA and development environments these new updates as needed. Working with the developers to modify system and software settings for optimal performance through load testing. Applying fixes/upgrades to production systems, writing perl/shell scripts, customizing the installation of Redhat 9 and AS3. Working with the in-house security expert to ensure all systems are patched and up to date.

Administered over 500 Unix servers, performing operating system and application software installations and upgrades. 	Created Redhat 6.2 and 7.2 platforms used for new customer setup on shared and managed Linux hosting, using custom compiles of Apache, Mysql, Tomcat, Qmail, vpopmail. Responsible for system security of Linux servers, worked with all versions of Redhat from 6.x to 8.x.	Third tier technical support, resolved escalated tickets and calls.	Created & implemented a system to install a fully customized & configured server on any x86 based architecture, with kickstart.	Maintained custom RPMs for the Linux machines.	Deployed and maintained company DNS servers, hosting 50,000+ domains on Bind
