Gareth Lock

Gareth Lock is the Owner and Director of The Human Diver, a prominent organization making a global impact in enhancing diver safety and performance by focusing on human error, non-technical skills training, and promoting a Just Culture in various diving sectors.

He authored 'Under Pressure: Diving Deeper with Human Factors' in March 2019, a book that has achieved significant success with over 4000 copies sold by May 2021.

Gareth also created 'If Only...', a documentary analyzing a fatal diving incident through the lenses of a Just Culture and Human Factors to gain insights into the event's occurrence.

His educational background includes various certifications and studies in Managing Successful Programmes, Terrorism and Counterterrorism Operations, Process Communication Model, Defence Strategy and Leadership, Human Factors, and more from reputable institutions like University of St. Andrews, Cranfield University, and Kingston University.

Throughout his career, Gareth has held key roles in several organizations such as being the Director at The Human Diver, Director for Risk Management at Global Underwater Explorers, Head of Global Learning at Paradigm Human Performance, and various other positions focusing on diving safety, training, and human factors.

His experience extends to serving as a Subject Matter Expert, Chief Operating Officer, Lead Consultant, and Faculty member in esteemed organizations like EUROPEAN SOCIETY OF THORACIC SURGEONS, Critical Team Performance, and Human in the System Consulting.

Gareth's professional journey also includes roles as a former Military Adviser, Requirements Manager, Researcher, and Flight Lieutenant in entities such as DE&S Abbeywood, Dstl, Cognitas Incident Research and Management, and Royal Air Force showcasing his diverse expertise and dedication to human factors and safety in various domains.
