Gail Thomas

Dr. Gail Thomas, a renowned figure in civic leadership and humanities, recently retired as the President and CEO of The Trinity Trust.

With a rich background in academia and nonprofit leadership, Dr. Thomas co-founded the Dallas Institute of Humanities and Culture in 1980 and directed it for 17 years, highlighting her commitment to education and cultural advancement.

She played a pivotal role in the development of the Balanced Vision Plan for Dallas and spearheaded efforts to raise private funds through The Trinity Trust to enhance the Trinity River's significance within the city.

Dr. Thomas holds a Bachelor's Degree in Humanities/Humanistic Studies from Southern Methodist University, a Master's Degree in Literature, and a Doctorate in Psychology and Literature from The University of Dallas.

Her contributions have been widely recognized, with accolades such as the J. Erik Jonsson Ethics Award, Distinguished Alumni awards from SMU and The University of Dallas, and various national, state, and city A.I.A. awards.

Currently, Dr. Thomas remains active as the director of the Center for the City at The Dallas Institute of Humanities and Culture, carrying forward her dedication to urban development and community engagement.
