Gabriel Chong

Gabriel Chong is the Director of Engineering and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Sunspear Energy.456 He has been in this role since April 2020 and oversees daily engineering operations.6 Gabriel was born and raised in Hawaii and is a graduate of Kamehameha Schools.1
Chong has over 16 years of experience in technical engineering and construction operations, with oversight of more than 50MW of energy projects.1 He designed the first Net Zero Energy college campus in the US for the University of Hawaii.1 Prior to his current role, Chong was the President of the Hawaii Solar Energy Association (HSEA).1 He also worked as the Special Projects Manager for Sunetric, a Hawaii-based firm specializing in renewable energy projects, where he started as an installer and worked in various departments.2 While at Sunetric from 2008 to 2012, he designed 2,352 residential PV systems and supervised an additional 12,000 designs as a managing design engineer.3
Gabriel holds numerous industry-relevant certifications, including NABCEP PV Installer, NABCEP PV Technical Sales, and Roof Integrated Solar Energy Certified Solar Roofing Professional (RISE CSRP).2
