Frédérique Mittelstaedt

Frédérique Mittelstaedt is the engineering manager of the real-time safety applications team at Reddit, where she leads efforts to automate the detection and actioning of harmful user behavior and content.

With a background as a senior software engineer at Reddit, a freelancer with Toptal and other platforms, and a founder of multiple start-up companies and a digital marketing agency, Frédérique has successfully managed technology projects from design through deployment and maintenance.

Frédérique approaches collaborations by experimenting with different working styles, leading self-managing teams, and using evidence-based methods to guide process changes and decision-making.

She excels in leading efficient meetings and achieving cross-functional alignment, with significant experience in cross-functional collaboration, workshop facilitation, and defining organizational policies and quality standards.

Frédérique is committed to fostering a work environment marked by trust, safety, and mutual support to enable teams and individuals to grow and excel. She has completed training in personal coaching, advanced courses in group coaching and systemic team coaching, and is certified as a Scrum Master and Product Owner.

Her educational background includes a Master's degree in Quantum Fields and Fundamental Forces from Imperial College London and a Bachelor's degree in Physics from Jacobs University Bremen.

Frédérique Mittelstaedt has held various roles in different organizations, including Engineering Manager at Reddit, Founder & CEO at Automorph, Senior Software Engineer at Reddit, and Freelance Software Engineer at Toptal, among others.

She has also been involved in different initiatives such as being a founder of Kozo, Co-Founder of Ruuta, and Main Organizer of the first Entrepreneurs' Day at Jacobs University Bremen. Additionally, she has experience as a singer, technical assistant, intern, and member of various teams and organizations.
