His talents and leadership qualities quickly propelled him through various roles, including engineering, marketing, and general management positions, culminating in high-profile senior officer roles at Nortel Networks, a major player in the telecommunications sector.
In addition to his work at Nortel Networks, Fred demonstrated entrepreneurial prowess by founding a venture-financed startup in Silicon Valley. He subsequently held senior executive and CEO positions at several telecommunications companies, showcasing his adeptness in guiding organizations towards success. Further enhancing his qualifications, he pursued a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). His academic journey culminated with a Doctorate (PhD) in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, equipping him with a solid theoretical and practical foundation in his field.
Since retiring from his last corporate position in 2002, Dr. Glave has dedicated himself to mentoring and supporting budding entrepreneurs and young scientists. He became a certified mentor with SCORE, a nonprofit organization that provides free mentoring services to small businesses. His leadership skills saw him serve as the District Director for the Metropolitan DC District from 2008 to 2010, and he is currently an active member of the SCORE National Board of Directors.
Beyond mentoring, Fred is deeply committed to the community. He serves as a volunteer docent at the Library of Congress and holds the position of President of the MIT Club of Washington, DC. In this capacity, he engages with K-12 education programs and contributes to the advancement of technology startups via his participation in the Advisory Board and Executive Committee of the Washington/Baltimore MIT Enterprise Forum. Moreover, he is a member of the Advisory Boards of two high-tech startup companies, actively contributing his expertise to nurture innovation in the tech industry.
