Frances Buren
Early Childhood Instructional Specialist - Increasing Access to Universal Pre-K
Frances Buren is an experienced Early Childhood Instructional Specialist currently working with the District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS) to ensure high-quality Pre-K education for 3 and 4-year-olds in the District of Columbia.
With a background in teaching in San Francisco and Washington D.C., Frances focuses on developing literacy, social-emotional skills, and play-based learning for young students to have a lasting impact on their academic achievement.
In addition to her full-time role, she also tutors students across the DMV region through Maryland Teacher Tutors, providing personalized academic support and test preparation to help students excel.
Frances holds a Master of Arts in Teaching (Accelerated Track) in Early Childhood Education and Teaching from Relay Graduate School of Education and has a background in History from University College London and Dartmouth College.
Her previous roles include teaching positions at KIPP DC and One Purpose School, as well as experience in educational organizations like Success Academy Charter Schools and Dartmouth College Alumni Relations.
She is dedicated to expanding educational opportunities and looks forward to Maryland Teacher Tutors' expansion into DC to reach more students and help them achieve their full potential.
