Fran Boyle
Centre of Research Excellence in Stillbirth
Fran Boyle is an Associate Professor and health services researcher at the Australian Centre of Research Excellence in Stillbirth, affiliated with Mater Research Institute and The University of Queensland (MRI-UQ).15 Her background is in psychology and public health, and her research focuses on people's lived experiences of health, health services, and the health system.1
As a Principal Investigator at the Australian Centre of Research Excellence in Stillbirth, Boyle co-leads the Care after Stillbirth program.13 Her work addresses the psychosocial impacts of perinatal loss and aims to improve outcomes for women and families through the implementation and evaluation of best practice parent-centered perinatal bereavement care in hospital and community settings.13
Boyle's research expertise lies in applying social sciences methods, including the integration of quantitative and qualitative approaches, and health systems thinking to guide policy and practice.1 She is particularly passionate about ensuring the best possible care following stillbirth, neonatal death, and other forms of pregnancy loss.34
In addition to her research roles, Boyle is available for supervision and serves as a media expert.1 She is also a member of the Executive Committee for the Centre of Research Excellence in Stillbirth.2
Boyle holds a Bachelor of Arts with Honours and a Doctor of Philosophy from The University of Queensland.1 Her current position as Principal Research Fellow at the Australian Centre of Research Excellence in Stillbirth began in February 2017.5
