Dr. Florian Schmitzberger is a distinguished molecular immunologist and biotechnologist with a focus on engineering proteins for cutting-edge human cancer immunotherapies.
Currently serving as the Principal Scientist of Molecular Immunology at Matterhorn Biosciences, Dr. Schmitzberger leads pioneering protein engineering research to advance MR1 reactive T cell receptor (TCR) T cell based immuno-oncology cell therapy.
His illustrious career includes spearheading innovative research projects in both the biotechnology industry and academia, where he thrives on devising inventive solutions for biological system engineering and establishing protein engineering platforms and teams.
With extensive hands-on experience in various realms including protein engineering, structural biology, experimental protein biochemistry, biophysical protein analyses, protein X-ray crystallography, yeast genetics, and live cell fluorescence microscopy, Dr. Schmitzberger brings a wealth of expertise to any scientific endeavor.
His academic journey saw him attain a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Biochemistry from the renowned University of Cambridge, complemented by a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Vienna with the highest honors.
