Florian de Clercq
DGA Olmenhorst holding
Florian de Clercq was the owner of Landgoed de Olmenhorst, a historic estate in the Netherlands known for its organic apple and pear orchards. He took over the management of the estate in 1986, focusing primarily on fruit cultivation after shifting away from traditional crop farming. Under his leadership, the estate transitioned to organic farming practices about 25 years ago, positioning it as a pioneer in sustainable agriculture during a time when such practices were not widely understood.12
Florian was instrumental in expanding the estate's offerings to include public engagement through events and a small shop selling their produce. His vision was to create a space where people could connect with nature and enjoy the outdoors.1 Tragically, Florian de Clercq passed away on November 5, 2021, after a brief illness, leaving behind a legacy that his children continue to uphold as they now manage the estate.34
His daughter, Amber Elisa de Clercq, has since taken on the role of director and co-owner, aiming to further develop the estate while maintaining its commitment to sustainability and community engagement.2
