"If your CTO isn't pushing for AI adoption, you should consider getting a new CTO." These aren't my words, but I find myself agreeing with them more and more...

A few months back, when I urged companies to be bolder in their IT and AI strategies, many disagreed. Now, I'm even more convinced of this view, because most of the best current AI models and tools now offer their "enterprise-grade" solutions.

Let's take Anthropic for example. They have just unveiled the Enterprise version of Claude, currently the best AI tool alongside ChatGPT (not just according to me and dozens of our clients, but also based on ratings from Artificial Analysis and other sources).

No training on chats or files. An expanded 500K token context window. Enterprise-grade security features.

There's not a single reason why top talent shouldn't be using it. In fact, I believe that the best performers should have a possibility to leverage more models and tools (as they have different capabilities for different types of tasks and offer super-smart features for data analysis, programming micro-applications without coding, etc.).

Even if it's just for the "discovery" phase of AI adoption, which is absolutely crucial.

I see people in my network using these tools anyway - unfortunately in secret (because they can't at their company) and thus less securely. Some are even starting to look for jobs where they won't have to fight with IT, but instead will have the opportunity to maximize their AI skills.

I believe it was Tomáš Čupr who said at the Google AI Leaders Connect conference that "if your CTO isn't pushing for AI adoption, you should consider getting a new CTO."

So, maybe it's really time to consider it.

P.S. I know, I know. It's not easy. We have lawyers, compliance teams, corporate rules, and restrictions from parent organizations. But that's exactly why we - the innovators and digitalizers - should be pushing for this, with IT's support. Without our efforts, these rules won't change.
