Elizabeth Stewart is a passionate social innovator and entrepreneur with nearly two decades of experience in building sustainable, equitable, and just economies that prioritize people and planet over profits. Her impressive professional journey has led her to work at the intersection of social innovation, design, and technology. She has successfully built and managed multiple organizations and startups focused on solving societal and economic challenges using cutting-edge technology and design thinking.
Elizabeth's most recent position was as Managing Director of the Accelerator and Research Network at Harmony Labs, where she oversaw two new programs aimed at investing in and partnering with media tech startups to use data to change the current media ecosystem. She also served on the Investment Committee for New Media Ventures' Open Call for two years. Prior to Harmony Labs, she was the Founding Executive Director of Civic Hall Labs, a civic innovation lab focused on solving pressing societal challenges using design and tech while working with nonprofits, government agencies, and civic tech startups in NYC. She created the largest civic innovation challenge in the country, NYCBigApps, and mentored its winning teams.
Elizabeth's professional journey began in 2011 when she founded Hub Los Angeles, the second co-working space in LA. As CEO of Hub Los Angeles, she created a thriving community of over 500 members and 30 partner organizations that hosted events and programs for tens of thousands of attendees. Additionally, she's held several other notable positions, including National Program Director at The DC Project, Research Director at UCLA Labor Center, and Marketing and Communications Manager at Lifewater International.
Elizabeth studied Political Science-International Relations at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and went on to gain her Master's degree in Urban Planning from the University of California, Los Angeles. She's an expert in early-stage investing, strategy, operations, social impact design, innovation, lean-stack, design thinking, product development, hybrid entities, facilitation, project management, and community building and partnerships. Elizabeth was featured in Fast Company's 100 Most Creative People 2013 issue, and profiled on Forbes.com as "a woman changing the LA entrepreneur landscape."
