Associate Director

Server and General Manager at Otway, a small neighborhood natural wine bar in Clinton Hill, working closely with owner/operator Samantha Safer on day to day and big picture management, policy creation and implementation, onboarding and ongoing staff training, invoice intake, bill payment, and budgeting, purchasing for and curating natural wine BTB and BTG lists, and running brunch and dinner service.

I curated public facing, mission oriented programming at MOFAD, including booking chefs, food writers and thinkers, and everyday experts, tailoring content to meet our audience's discerning standard, and managing a corps of volunteers to execute each event. Each public program is an extension of our mission; an aspirational, ephemeral exhibit in miniature.

Ultimately interdisciplinary, I am interested in reimagining the roles of cultural institutions at the intersection of programming, curation, education, & community outreach.

Museum of Food and Drink (MOFAD)

Public Programs Manager

Developed the content and rollout for a new series of lower-price point public programs with an eye toward transitioning the museum out of a traditional space in 2019, utilizing Facebook, Squarespace, My Emma, FormStack, Salesforce, and event listings to promote, ticket, and track the success of programs, while maintaining the Museum’s mission.

Public Programs Associate

Taught 100-English Composition and 200-Creative Writing to Undergraduate students at the University of Michigan. Developed my own curriculum, assignments, and day-to-day classroom activities.

Graduate Student Instructor

Developed These Are My People, a podcast about audience building that asked creatives to share their stories about finding, building, and maintaining their audiences. Developed theme, messaging, and audio standards for the podcast. Compiled local contacts, coordinated interviews with, and interviewed podcast guests, and edited audio.

Smarthouse Creative

Expanded and engaged the press’s readership; strengthened its visibility and reputation; developed a virtual presence (newsletter, blog, social media), and built connections within the local and national literary community. Coordinated readings, donor events, and tabled at multiple AWP conferences. Read for annual book contest.

Development/event planning: Curated community outreach, donor, and book launch events, drawing audiences of 50-70 people, in Philadelphia, and in Minneapolis, Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C., during three AWP national writing and bookselling conferences.

Marketing: Developed a digital presence for the press from the ground up, including a newsletter mailing list of 900+ people, 250+ Twitter followers, and 1,800+ likes on Facebook.

SATURNALIA BOOKS

Marketing Director

Development: Oversaw and staffed development-based donor events (readings, book launches) in Seattle and New York. Interviewed poets for online development campaign, launching the Press's continued video-media presence. 

Marketing/publicity: Wrote and developed multiple marketing newsletters. Compiled author information for pitch decks for book publicity and communication with distributors.

Design: Designed a variety of digital and print communications utilizing Adobe CS, for successful $24,000+ IndieGoGo and $100,000+ Kickstarter book launch campaigns.
