Blake Scott
Blake Scott is an accomplished historian, author, and assistant professor of International Studies with a focus on the Caribbean region. Blake's educational background includes studies in history and Latin American and Caribbean studies at The University of Texas at Austin followed by an MA in history from The University of Georgia and a bachelor's degree in history from Florida State University.
Blake currently teaches both introductory and advanced courses in the International Studies Program at the College of Charleston with an emphasis on the interplay between cultural and economic globalization, travel and migration, environmental change, and inter-American relations in the Caribbean. Additionally, he has authored several academic and popular publications on these topics such as the Journal of Environmental History, Journal of Tourism History, The Caribbean Writer, the Oxford Research Encyclopedia of American History, and The Huffington Post.
Prior to joining the faculty at the College of Charleston, Blake served as a lecturer for Tourism and Island Systems at The School for Field Studies, a visiting professor at Global Brigades, Inc., and teaching assistant/ graduate instructor at The University of Texas at Austin.
