Carlos David Castro is an accomplished private equity and venture capital professional with extensive experience in various transactions, including fund of funds, secondaries, co-investments, and portfolio monitoring. His industry strengths lie in energy, industrials, lower middle market buy-out, South and South-West domestic U.S., and Latin America. Carlos obtained his BBA and Latin American Studies certification in Accounting from the renowned C.T. Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston. He continued his academic pursuits and earned an MBA in Private Equity and Entrepreneurship from Cornell University - S.C. Johnson Graduate School of Management. In the past, Carlos has incubated various start-ups, consulted for several small businesses, and successfully completed capital raising, M&A integration, and financial and accounting analysis projects.
Carlos is currently a Director at CAZ Investments, where he leverages his exceptional skills to oversee operations, drive growth, and enhance portfolio performance. Previously, Carlos served as the Director of Covariance Capital Management and Investment Manager of Private Equity, Venture Capital, and Co-investments. He also worked as the LatAm Deal Execution of EFS Global Growth Markets at GE Capital and the Private Equity Investor at Liberty Mutual Group Asset Management. Carlos has held several other critical positions, including Summer Associate at Agora Partnerships, Investment Banking intern at Ezra Pharmaceutical, Inc., Fund Manager at BR Venture Fund, Senior International Analyst at Anandarko Petroleum Corporation, Fellow at Cornell eLab, and Fellow at Springworks.
In his free time, Carlos enjoys watching Texans football and Spurs basketball. He is also an avid race car and exotic car enthusiast and an enthusiast in all things coffee and whiskey-related.
