    Data Scientist - Machine Learning Lecturer

    Fereydoon Vafaei is a seasoned Data Scientist at Sciera Inc. and a lecturer in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence at the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC). He is a current Computer Science Ph.D. candidate at Colorado State University, specializing in Deep Learning and Machine Learning research.

    Fereydoon's expertise lies in Deep Learning, Machine Learning, Data Science, and Artificial Intelligence. He has vast experience using various algorithms and techniques like Generative Adversarial Networks (GAN), Graph-based Convolutional Neural Networks (GCN), Recurrent Neural Networks (RNN), and more. He applies these techniques in supervised, unsupervised, and semi-supervised learning scenarios on diverse datasets across different domains.

    His current focus for his Ph.D. dissertation is on the interdisciplinary applications of Deep Learning in Neuroimaging and Brain-Computer Interfaces. Collaborating with the Cognitive Neuroscience group at Colorado State University, he works on efficient analysis of fMRI and brain functional connectivity. Fereydoon is actively involved as a member of the Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) lab at CSU.

    Having interned with the Data Science team at Sciera Inc., a top Analytics and Big Data company, Fereydoon has engaged in predictive analytics projects using Big Data platforms and AWS technologies. His projects include Logo Recognition using Deep Learning and advanced Data Augmentation techniques.

    Fereydoon Vafaei completed his Master of Science (M.Sc.) at North Dakota State University and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) at Colorado State University.
