Felix Weigel
Felix Weigel is a software engineer with a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München. He has extensive experience in analytic query processing, geo data retrieval, and natural language processing. Weigel is currently employed as a software engineer in Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning at Google Research, where he works on developing apps for mobile and web end-to-end. Before this position, he worked as a software engineer for eight years at Google, driving features, performance optimization, and system integration across the SQL stack that powers some of Google's biggest products. He also has experience leading multi-quarter projects spanning multiple systems, teams, and timezones.
Prior to Google, he worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Nokia Gate5 GmbH, where he worked on geo data retrieval and natural language processing in the backend of Nokia Maps. He has also worked as a Research Scientist at FAST, a Microsoft® Subsidiary, and as a Postdoctoral Associate at Cornell University.
Weigel is passionate about problem-solving and system building, and he enjoys deep algorithmic work and prototyping. He is expanding his horizon into applied ML and AI.
