Federico Malavassi Calvo

Federico Guillermo Malavassi Calvo is a Costa Rican liberal lawyer and politician. He was the presidential candidate for the Unión Liberal party in the 2022 presidential elections.1

Biography

Malavassi was born on January 28, 1956 in Tres Ríos, La Unión. He graduated from the University of Costa Rica with a law degree. He married Gladys Eugenia Corrales Madrigal in 1979 and they have three sons: Federico José, Francisco Guillermo, and Fabricio Enrique.1

Professional Experience

Malavassi is a lawyer and notary public. He is a professor at the Universidad Autónoma de Centro América (UACA), where he serves as legal advisor.23 He was previously a presidential candidate for the Libertarian Movement party in 1998, obtaining less than 1% of the votes, and later served as a deputy in the Legislative Assembly from 2002-2006.1

Malavassi is also the president of the Junta Administrativa at UACA3 and serves on the editorial team of the university's academic journal, Acta Académica.4
