Platform team focuses on owning infrastructure and all backend core-services that are leveraged by all the teams within engineering to build various product workflows. 

Carried out PM duties along with engineering responsibilities to launch the first and subsequent versions of the MasterClass Android app. The app received 'Google Play Best of 2018' award.

Architect for all backend services of the product. Led the A/B testing and subsequent launch of MasterClass’ subscription product offering; All-Access Pass.

Scaled the engineering team by hiring key talent across web full-stack, mobile, backend infrastructure and data teams.

Staff Engineer

- Vango is an online marketplace for original art. The mobile apps are designed to make buying the art-pieces easy and affordable with personalized recommendations.

As a hobby project, I worked part-time on developing the first version of the Vango Android app. Partnered closely with the founders to scope the MVP, worked with the design team to put together the UX flows and carried out the app implementation in close partnership with the backend rails team.

- Became part of the CloudClient team under DMS lab after the acquisition of PanoLogic by Samsung Research America.

-  Led the product development for 'Samsung Cloud Console'. Responsibilities include product architecture, resource/timeline planning (managing a cross-geo team of 7 engineers), feature design/development.
-  Samsung Cloud Console is a highly-scalable, secure, distributed, web-based management system that helps to manage and monitor Samsung thin client end points.
-  Designed the overall product architecture to achieve high scalability and deployment simplicity. Carried out UI frameworks research, designed agent communication-protocol, designed REST API end-points for web console. Exceeded scalability and performance targets by building a product that is capable of managing tens of thousands of devices in a single server deployment.
-  Designed and developed core product modules like Device Management, High Availability for fault tolerance, Smart firmware upgrades.
-  Implemented a real time UI Events framework using Stomp over Websockets and REST APIs.
-  Developed an in-house integration test framework based on Junit, Spring MockMVC, Mockito, WireMock.

- Led the design and development effort on the product features of Pano Controller releases which is a central component of the Pano System.
-  Managed a team of 6 engineers including a team of engineers in India. Carried out resource planning and task distribution across the team and manage the development side of the release.
-  Worked with the Product Management team to understand the release requirements. Collaborated with the Project Management team to setup timelines and feasibility of the project features. 
-  Pano Controller is a highly multithreaded, web-based management platform that communicates with AD Server, License Servers and Hypervisors to manage virtual desktops and provides desktop brokering capabilities.
-  Completely re-architected the Pano Controller product in release 5.0 to achieve higher scale in terms of the number of desktop VMs. Migrated to distributed architecture by introducing the concept of local and remote desktop brokers. Implemented a pluggable architecture for easy integration with 3rd party desktop brokers such as Citrix XenDesktop and VMWare View.
-  Developed the licensing infrastructure for the Pano System in release 6.0 based on REST based License Server and XML based License Files.
-  Implemented modules like Smartcard based user authentication, secure communication with Pano Remotes.
-  Technologies: Java, JSP, Servlets, Openlaszlo, Javascript, PostgreSQL, Derby, Web-services (SOAP and REST), Axis, Ant. Pano VDI Solution is distributed as a CentOS OVF and Cloud solution is distributed as Ubuntu ISO.

- vCenter Server is a multithreaded cross platform management framework for virtual machines residing on ESX hypervisor.
-  Responsibilities included development and maintenance of vCenter Licensing, Image-customization (IMC) and WebAccess subsystems.
-  Worked on different flavors of vCenter Licensing subsystems including Flex-License server based license model and DLF-Key based licensing framework with LDAP backend. Worked on development of true-up per vm licensing model. This is implemented as a Tomcat web application as a part of vCenter VWS.
-  Implemented virtual machine GOS Image-customization enhancements. Designed and implemented support for various Windows and Linux GOS customizations. Worked with the design team to re-architect the Windows IMC API layer using the Microsoft Sysprep functionality.
-  Worked on different features of the WebCenter Thin client Tomcat web application. Worked with internal Security team to research and develop fixes for various Security vulnerabilities reported by external bloggers and internal security auditors.
-  Technologies used: Java, C++, JSP, Servlet, Javascript, Struts, XML. Oracle and SQL Server database. VMware ESX 3.x/4.x hypervisor. Visual Studio 2008, Eclipse IDEs.
