Wayne Stacy
Wayne Stacy is a distinguished and accomplished intellectual-property lawyer with over two decades of experience in the industry. He is also an adjunct law professor who has taught Patent Law, Patent Litigation, PTAB litigation, and Copyright Law at several law schools across the country, including the University of California Berkeley, University of California Hastings, University of Colorado, and the University of Denver. His interests lie in public service and expanding the benefits of innovation throughout the world.
Stacy has an impressive educational background, earning his J.D. from The George Washington University Law School and his BS from Southern Methodist University. During his career as a lawyer, he advised individuals and companies of all sizes, from VC-backed startups to the Fortune 50, on critical patent, trade secret, and copyright matters. Several international publications, including Chambers, IAM, and Super Lawyers, have ranked him as one of the top patent litigators in the country.
Stacy has held several positions throughout his career, including serving as the Director, Silicon Valley at the USPTO, Equity Partner, California IP Department Chair at Baker Botts, Equity Partner at Cooley LLP, and Attorney at Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP.
Currently, he serves as the Executive Director at Berkeley Center for Law & Technology (BCLT), focusing on harnessing the power of intellectual property to promote innovation and benefit society.
