Aerodynamic model correction and order reduction for loads analysis and control in cooperation with Airbus.

Projects include:
● Airbus Sponsorship: close collaboration with the Loads
Department at Airbus Operations (Hamburg) including extended
periods of working on-site. I computed instationary
CFD which I used for loads model correction and advised
Airbus in two projects involving Kalman filters for gust and
loads reconstruction.
● Digital-X: the development of a multidisciplinary design
optimization process for large passenger transport aircraft.
My responsibility is the aerodynamic correction and order
reduction of loads models used to produce the loads envelope
which is the basis for airframe sizing. My method
yields hifi distributed loads for fully flexible, dynamic simulations
in realtime.
● Loads monitoring: I am responsible for the development
of an observer for in-flight monitoring of structural loads
and gusts using existing sensors. The corrected loads model
developed under Digital-X is used as a basis for the observer.

responsible for sensor fusion and optical navigation.
 
Projects include:
● Autonomous Terrain-based Optical Navigation for planetary
landers (ATON): My tasks included the development
of the navigation filter (an error state UKF) and sensor fusion
for optical flow supported navigation. This has been
successfully demonstrated using advanced radiometry simulation.
● Autonomous Rotorcraft Testbed for Intelligent Systems
(ARTIS): My tasks included development and software
support of the navigation filter, optical navigation, the
Software-in-the-Loop and Hardware-in-the-Loop simulation
and avionics. Successful flight tests were flown frequently.
● Prometheus: 25 kg Fixed-Wing UAV. My tasks were similar
to those for ARTIS.
● NextUAV: Multi UAV mutual navigation support under
limited GNSS availability. My tasks included the development
of optical sensor fusion.

* I have developed ground station based easy handling operation for an electric rotary wing UAV.
* Autonomous car chasing with a Yamaha R-Max rotary wing UAV through a pan/tilt mounted camera. I have designed an inertial particle filter, a Kalman filter for the car’s states and flight path planning.
