-  Optimized designs of 1-d and 2-d grating couplers using FDTD simulations for efficient coupling of free space light into a silicon chip.
-  Designed layout of photonic components on a silicon chip and created mask files for fabrication using KLayout.

Graduate Research Assistant

Developed custom software for designing optical components for an augmented reality headset.
Achievements:
-  Created ray-tracing software using python for analyzing light propagation in the optical system.
-  Implemented optimization algorithms for designing optical components for the best performance of the AR system.
-  Developed a merit function for characterizing the performance of the AR optical system and improving its design.

- Studied optical properties of photoactive nanoparticles and designed experimental methodologies;
