Fady Charbel

Fady T. Charbel is the Richard L. and Gertrude W. Fruin Professor and the Head of the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). He has held this position since 2001 and is recognized as an expert in complex neurosurgical disorders, including stroke, brain aneurysms, cerebrovascular diseases, and complex brain tumors.124

Education and Career

Dr. Charbel earned his medical degree from St. Joseph's University in Beirut, Lebanon. He completed his residency at Henry Ford Hospital and has held various roles within UIC's Department of Neurosurgery since 1991. His academic contributions include over 150 publications and more than 200 scientific presentations.12

Innovations and Patents

Dr. Charbel is noted for his contributions to medical technology, having developed several innovative tools such as the Intracranial Charbel Micro-Flow Probe® and the NOVA® flow-analysis system.
