Fabio Cuzzolin
Director of the Visual Artificial Intelligence Laboratory @ Oxford Brookes University
Fabio Cuzzolin, a renowned expert in imprecise probabilities and random set theory, hails from Jesolo, Italy.
He holds a laurea degree magna cum laude from the University of Padova and earned his Ph.D. from the same institution with a thesis on 'Visions of a generalized probability theory.'
Fabio has an illustrious career starting as a postdoc at the UCLA Vision Lab and later as a Marie Curie fellow at INRIA Rhone-Alpes, Grenoble.
In 2008, he joined Oxford Brookes University and now heads the Visual Artificial Intelligence Laboratory within the School of Engineering, Computing, and Mathematics.
He has been a Professor of Artificial Intelligence since 2016 and currently sits on the Board of the Institute for Ethical AI.
His research interests encompass artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer vision, surgical robotics, autonomous driving, AI for healthcare, and uncertainty theory.
Under his leadership, the Visual AI Lab manages multiple projects funded by prestigious entities.
Fabio is a prolific author with over 110 publications, including books, book chapters, and journal papers, showcasing his expertise in the field.
He has held significant roles in various academic and professional organizations, such as the Belief Functions and Applications Society (BFAS) and the Society for Imprecise Probabilities and Their Applications (SIPTA).
Fabio has also been instrumental in shaping the academic landscape by serving on the Technical Program Committee of numerous international conferences.
