Meredith Rose Burak is a seasoned entrepreneur and philanthropist with a passion for driving change through politics, advocacy, and strategic investments. With a degree in Political Science and Holocaust Studies from the University of Vermont, she started her career as a coordinator for STAND: A Student Anti-Genocide Coalition, followed by advocacy consulting at American Jewish World Service. She served as Director of Communications and Policy at New York City Council, where she organized public relations campaigns to influence policy, legislation and the budget; and then transitioned to financial management at Merrill Lynch.
There, as a Global Wealth and Investment Management executive, she offered investment and philanthropic strategy counsel to clients and managed millions in assets for not-for-profit organizations and labor unions. For her commitment to entrepreneurship and philanthropy, Meredith was honored in 2016 by City & State Magazine with the Corporate Social Responsibility for "Excellence in Entrepreneurial Philanthropy" award.
Meredith is also a VP of Gynica, an R&D company based at the Hebrew University’s Jerusalem Biotech Park, where she advocates for women’s health. Meredith serves on several boards, including The Sanders Institute, where she advises on progressive solutions to problems of social, racial, economic and environmental injustice. Her other initiatives include The Survivor Initiative, where she champions public-private partnerships that have propelled tens of millions of dollars to Holocaust survivors; and the Mary Haas Ovarian Cancer Early Detection Foundation, which Meredith established to finance research and awareness efforts to combat ovarian cancer. Additionally, Meredith is the youngest professional on Hillel International's board of directors, where she works to inspire and support future leaders.
