Marisela Marquez is an accomplished educator and community leader, currently serving as the Executive Director and Lecturer for Chicano Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara. With years of experience in academia and community work, Marquez has established herself as a highly respected voice on issues facing Latinx communities.

Marquez holds a Ph.D. in Sociology and has dedicated her career to exploring the intersection of race, ethnicity, and social inequality. Her research primarily focuses on issues of health disparities, gender, and migration in the Latinx community. Marquez has also been actively involved in community organizing and advocacy, working with organizations such as the United Farm Workers, the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund, and the National Latina Health Organization.

As the Executive Director of the Chicano Studies Institute at UC Santa Barbara, Marquez is committed to advancing the intellectual and social well-being of Latinx communities through scholarship and activism. Through her teaching and leadership, Marquez aims to foster a sense of empowerment and agency among her students, encouraging them to become active participants in shaping a more equitable and just society.
