Fred Kennedy is a respected leader in the space industry, well-known for his endeavors to improve how we build, deploy, and operate space systems. Kennedy has an impressive education background having studied at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the US Army War College, The George Washington University, and the University of Surrey. He is currently the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Dark Fission Space Systems, a space company that aims to make space more accessible and affordable by promoting the proliferation of assets, aircraft-like launch operations, and fabrication of commoditized spacecraft systems.
Kennedy has held several key leadership roles throughout his career, including being the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Salamander Space Corporation, Senior Fellow at Potomac Institute for Policy Studies, and a consultant at Avascent. He has also worked as the Inaugural Director of the Space Development Agency and as the Director of Tactical Technology Office at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). Before that, he worked on multiple projects for various organizations, including the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, Space and Missile Systems Center, Remote Sensing Systems Directorate, and The Joint Staff.

He has an interest in developing commoditized spacecraft systems, pioneering infrastructure development beyond Earth's orbit, reducing costs associated with spaceflight and shaping national policies related to space.
