Emma Drake is a highly knowledgeable and respected privacy and data protection advisor, with extensive experience advising clients in the sport and health sectors. She has been recognized as a "lead lawyer for sport on data protection" in the House of Lords debates on the Data Protection Act 2018, and is an active member of the Media, Entertainment and Sport, and Life Sciences & Healthcare groups at Bird & Bird LLP.

With a degree in LLB, European Law from the University of Warwick, and time spent studying at Université du Droit et de la Santé (Lille II), Emma is well-educated and accomplished. She has completed three secondments with clients in the entertainment, consumer retail, and pharmaceutical sectors.

Emma's specific expertise lies in advising on GDPR and UK law, including privacy policies and procedures, data processing, and data sharing agreements. She provides advice on data protection impact assessments, data subject rights, personal data breaches, and e-privacy compliance. Emma has also worked with many sports clients, including sports clubs and national and international governing bodies, providing advice on topics such as safeguarding, anti-doping, integrity investigations, and engagement with grassroots athletes and fans. Her work also includes regulatory affairs for sports governing bodies, securing sports specific amendments to the Data Protection Act 2018.
