I coordinate the Community Feed In Tarriff program - which encouraged community-based renewable energy projects by guaranteeing a rate per kilowatt-hour for the energy that feeds into the province’s distribution electrical grid. Engage Nova Scotia (ENS), Treaty Education Nova Scotia and Canadians For a New Partnership (CFNP) co-hosted a reception and event that convened key leaders and members of the public for a conversation about building relationship between Aboriginal and all other Nova Scotians. Provided policy advice and analysis to Minister and Deputy Minister of Health for Nova Scotia involving all interprovincial and federal-provincial/territorial public health files. Provided strategic advice and prepared policy positions for senior public health officials, including the Chief Medical Officer of Health for Nova Scotia (Dr. Robert Strang) in his role as co-Chair of the Pan-Canadian Public Health Network . As Senior Policy Analyst for the co-Chair province, I facilitated collaborative inter-provincial/territorial strategies and advisory for priority public health issues in Canada - including Ebola Response preparations, Healthy Weights and Anti-microbial resistance.

I co-chaired the Provincial Active Transportation Team, led the development of a provincial active transportation policy, developed provincial programs to build a stronger culture of biking and walking, managed funding for municipal, provincial and non-government projects, facilitated connections among stakeholders from a variety of sectors and disciplines, cultivated a joint-sector partnership that led to the Blue Route (provincial cycling network), strategically supported active and safe routes to school programs and advanced community planning for active transportation.

My success in cross-sector collaborative development of a provincial Active Transportation Policy Framework has been highlighted in a Public Health Agency of Canada report as a model approach for health promotion policy.

I worked with community partners, municipal and provincial government to improve and promote access to outdoor recreation experiences in Nova Scotia. I advanced big ideas and creative partnerships while facilitating network-building and sharing of best practices in the sector. I also facilitated program development and funding to outdoor recreation organizations.

I transitioned the NSSS from a small, founder-led organization with no full-time staff and a short season of programs to a robust structure which included a full complement of highly-skilled staff, year-round programming, strategic planning, solid funding and a vibrant staff culture. My responsibilities included all aspects of organizational oversight including: managing staff and volunteers, fundraising, donor relations, contracts, reporting, budgets, project management, program review and evaluation, marketing, policies and procedures, staff training, risk-management and working with a Board of Directors.

I created and facilitated gender-awareness programs, coordinated communication with numerous gender-related NGOs and prepared a published tool on NGO mentorship programming.
