Bernard Frischer
Bernard Frischer, a renowned professor with over four decades of experience in the field of virtual heritage and classical studies, is the founder and president of Flyover Zone, an employee-owned company that specializes in creating expert-led virtual tours of global cultural heritage sites and monuments. Flyover Zone develops its tours and distributes them on its proprietary Yorescape™ streaming platform. Frischer's passion for virtual heritage stems from his career as a professor of the subject at universities such as UCLA, the University of Virginia, and Indiana University. Throughout his career, Frischer authored or co-authored eight books and numerous articles, focusing on virtual heritage and the classical world and its survival. His works have earned him several awards, including the International Society for Virtual Systems and Multimedia's Pioneer Award, the Spanish Society of Virtual Archaeology's Tartessos Prize, and the Senior Prize Fellowship from the Zukunftskolleg at the University of Konstanz. Frischer is a fellow of the American Academy in Rome and a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He received his B.A. in Classics summa cum laude from Wesleyan University and his Ph.D. in Classics summa cum laude from the University of Heidelberg. He also studied at the Intercollegiate Center for Classical Studies in Rome and completed his Studied FAAR in Classical and Ancient Studies through American Academy in Rome. Frischer's specialties include the application of information technology to cultural heritage, digital archaeology, and virtual worlds.
