I am responsible for designing, architecting, building, and deploying frontend, backend, database, and everything else for Q-in. Q-in.io is a software company that is building a better experience for dining out. We have a restaurant management app for handling queues, reservations, table management, and load of other things. We also have a patron/guest facing app allowing people to easily and simply see live wait times, join the queue from a distance, and then be notified when they should start heading to the restaurant so that they are right on time for their table. And if they are not going to make it or they decide to go somewhere else then they can let the restaurant know right away. It allows patrons to update or cancel reservations as needed without needing to call in. Restaurant is moving slower than anticipated? No worries, Q-in keeps everyone up to date on wait times and what to expect. No more waiting in lobbies, no more getting handed a buzzer or told to wait to be seated.

With a unique role as sole react native developer on the mobile team I have had the opportunity to greenfield a handful of new projects internal and external. I have had the opportunity to work effectively with amazing an amazing team in person and (more recently) remotely.

Built several react native projects some of which are standalone apps while others were integrated into existing mobile apps.

I have also been able to use my frontend skills to work on several web/electron projects. I designed and build a theme editor for an internal/client electron project to help with automated testing for our pipeline tests as well as allowing clients to build custom themes for their apps. Most recently built a project for a client that I was able to greenfield using Typescript and RxJS.

Frontend Engineer (React Native)

Ticket for Two (TF2) is a dating app similar to Tinder with some added functionality. TF2 not only lets you find individuals in your area but also offer a ticket (planned activity) to someone you are interested in getting to know a little better.

Currently in Beta test stage on Google Play Store and coming soon to the Apple App Store

Working on a team of five I was one of the main React Native developers, building out or consulting on many of the screens. Accessing Camera Roll, building instant messaging, semi-custom date/time pickers, and swiping decks are a few of the more difficult things we tackled.

Used prototypes to build scalable views for modern IOS and Android devices to meet designer specifications.

I built all the views taking information and also built out all form validation. I worked on the design and implementation of the instant messaging including building out socket.io.

Worked closely with backend team on receiving and saving data to the database including building custom endpoints and PostgreSQL queries.

Work one-on-one with students to help them learn web development patterns, concepts, and techniques in an intense, fast-paced environment.

Answer questions, clarify concepts, debug code, and guide student learning experiences during lectures and projects.

Refine new and existing curriculum and make changes as needed to practice repos on GitHub.

As an intern, I was brought on to help with a three-month sprint to get the app to an Alpha testing stage

Started writing React Native code on the first day on the job with no prior experience in React Native.

Worked on building out the logic and basic layout of 6 views in the List Item sequence. Allowed user to access camera roll and camera on phone for uploading images (both in React Native and in Expo).

After first week switched from working in React Native to refactoring things into an Expo React Native app (linking and permissions).

Worked with Sr backend developer to retrieve and save data in the database

Mobile Development Intern

Race to the Moon is an arcade-style, full-stack web game that challenges the player to destroy all the asteroids and meteorites along the way. Blow up asteroids and meteorites to build up the boost to double speed and become invincible for a few seconds.

Race to the Moon was built with a team of 3 developers. I handled setting up the backend: Node.JS server running Express Middleware, PostgreSQL database. I worked closely with team members learning and implementing Phaser 3 game components. We used Phaser 3 because of its pre-built collision detection and gravity. It was a steep learning curve implementing Phaser 3 with React.

This web app both displays promotional information as well as accommodates online registration for the summer camp.
The frontend is built with React, Redux, Amazon (AWS) S3, and Material-UI
