Jared Thomas is a seasoned Technical Principal in Behavioural Sciences at WSP Research and Innovation. With an impressive academic background in both psychology and philosophy, he has a strong expertise in human factors evaluation, road safety, liveability, public transport, cycling, walking, behaviour change, post-earthquake behaviour, community resilience, customer experience, community engagement, and research methods.
Jared is dedicated to promoting a collaborative approach that integrates social research with technology, infrastructure, policy and behaviour change solutions. His work involves successful international collaborations with Canada, Singapore, Australia, and the United Kingdom.
As a former Research Manager, Principal Researcher, and Researcher in Behavioural Sciences at Opus International Consultants Limited, he has gained a wealth of experience in public spaces such as outdoor urban parks, improving the safety and usability of road corridors, footpaths, cycleways, buildings, and public transport.
Jared's extensive education includes a MSocSci in Psychology from The University of Waikato, a PhD in Psychology from Victoria University of Wellington, and a BSocSci (1st Class Honours) in Psychology and Philosophy from the University of Waikato.
