Mike Byrne is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in operational risk management, governance & reporting. He has held senior positions in the financial services industry in New Zealand for 28 years, leading operational risk, fraud, security, continuity, crisis & insurance capabilities for large companies. His expertise includes project management, internal audit, sales & service, marketing & sponsorship, product management, and back-office operations. He has led national teams of up to 38 people with operational budgets of around $8m p.a. Mike is currently the Head of Risk & Investigations at Southern Cross Health Society, where he demonstrates his passion for continuous improvement and excellence, delivering sustainable improvements via toolsets including Lean, Kaizen, Business Excellence / Baldrige, etc.
