Matt Ray is an experienced IT professional and freelance writer with expertise in cybersecurity, cloud consulting, and travel writing. After spending 15 years working for a Fortune 500 Software Company and owning an IT consulting business, Matt made the decision to set sail and travel the world. His adventure took him to 40+ countries where he crewed on other people's boats as a Global Hitchhiker, gaining a unique perspective through slow-travel and meeting amazing people along the way.

Now, Matt is back to pursuing his career and dreams. He is currently a consultant with NetSyntropy, where he works on security and cloud-based projects. In addition to consulting, Matt is working on his Master's Degree in Cybersecurity at Western Governors University. He is also a freelance writer and photographer, using his experiences to create content that focuses on sailing, adventure, and travel. Matt has embedded his passion for exceptional destinations and unconventional experiences into his content.

Matt studied at Brigham Young University and Bakersfield College, where he earned his BA and Associates degrees, respectively. He is skilled in HITRUST CCSFP and Security+ and uses his expertise in his everyday work. In his past experiences, Matt has worked as a Senior System Administrator at IBM, a Consultant at Novell, a Technical Support Engineer at WordPerfect Corporation, among others. He has volunteered as a webmaster, board of directors, and translator at Healing Hands for Haiti International Inc.

In his free time, Matt enjoys sailing and turning others on to sailing and world travel. His passion for sailing and travel is evident in his writing and ability to provide first-hand experiences through his articles and stories.
