Calvin 郭明仁

Calvin 郭明仁 is a seasoned professional with a diverse background spanning over 20 years, primarily focused on the start-up ecosystem in China.

His most recent role includes being the seed investor and Chairman of Moka Bros Ltd, a successful chain of fast casual healthy food restaurants with multiple locations in key cities like Beijing, Shanghai, and Chengdu.

Before Moka Bros, Calvin served as the CFO and COO of Happylatte, a Beijing-based mobile game developer known for its High Noon series and backed by Series A investment from Index Ventures.

In 2009, Calvin founded MingYao Ltd., where he collaborated with US companies on mobile software, big data, and market entry strategies.

During his tenure at Global Catalyst Partners from 2002 to 2008, Calvin held the position of Vice President, overseeing China investments and aiding in business development for portfolio companies across Asia.

Prior to GCP, Calvin was the Director of Investments for Venture TDF China, a key player in the Chinese VC industry at the time.

Calvin's journey in the tech industry started with him establishing the China operations for AsiaWorks, a Singaporean start-up focusing on speech and handwriting recognition technologies, which was later acquired by Lernout and Hauspie, where he subsequently led the Software Division in China.

Beginning his career as a headhunter specializing in technology, Calvin worked in London and Singapore for Corporate Executive Search as a Consultant and Head of Research.

Educationally, Calvin studied Chinese studies with Economics at the University of Leeds and Chinese language at Beijing Foreign Studies University, following his schooling at Haberdashers' Aske's School in Elstree.
