John Engates brings a wealth of experience to the technology industry with an extensive background in networking, hosting, and cloud computing. His career began as a Systems Engineer at Sirius Computer Solutions before moving on to become the General Manager at Internet Direct, Inc. Eventually, John became a key member of the Rackspace team serving as the Vice President of Operations and ultimately the Chief Technology Officer.

John is instrumental in the development and growth of Open Compute Project Foundation, where he served on the board. He then joined NTT Global Networks as the Client Chief Technology Officer. John is a member of the Board of Directors for James Avery Artisan Jewelry, serves as an Advisory Board Member for Potrero Medical and is a former mentor and investor for Techstars.

John's grounding as an accountant began when he studied accounting at The University of Texas at San Antonio before transferring to The University of Texas at Austin.
