Somaya Abdelgany is an accomplished city planner who has studied both architecture and city planning at UC Berkeley College of Environmental Design. She has worked as a planner for several years, holding various positions such as Associate Regional Housing Planner at Metropolitan Transportation Commission, Project Manager at Satellite Affordable Housing Associates (SAHA), and Planning Aide at the City of Anaheim.

Somaya also has experience in affordable housing, having interned at Enterprise Community Partners, the City of Emeryville, and the Affordable Housing Intern at the City of Anaheim. She has also worked as a researcher, serving as a Graduate Student Researcher at the Center for Community Innovation and Undergraduate Student Researcher at the Institute for Urban and Regional Development.

Throughout her career, Somaya has demonstrated her expertise in urban planning, housing policy, and community development. She is particularly interested in developing solutions to the housing crisis in urban areas, and her work at SAHA and MTC has been focused largely on this issue.
