Sara McTarnaghan

Sara McTarnaghan is a seasoned urban planner, policy researcher, and program evaluator who has made significant contributions in the non-profit sector in the US and Latin America.

With a keen interest in utilizing research to drive positive changes in policy and program design, Sara brings over 10 years of experience marked by increasing responsibilities.

Her skill set includes expertise in program design, mixed-methods research, partnership development, project management, proposal development, facilitation, and technical assistance.

Sara is fluent in both English and Spanish, and she also possesses conversational abilities in Portuguese, enabling her to work effectively across different linguistic contexts.

She holds a Master of Science in Regional Planning and a Master of Arts in Latin American Studies from The University of Texas at Austin, further complemented by a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs from The George Washington University.

Additionally, Sara has pursued studies at the Pontificia Universidad Católica De Chile and the International Center for Development Studies, enhancing her interdisciplinary knowledge and global perspective.

Currently, Sara McTarnaghan serves as a Senior Research Associate at the Urban Institute, where she continues to drive impactful research and contribute to the creation of more equitable communities through evidence-based approaches.
