Roberto Echandi
Roberto Echandi is an accomplished trade and investment specialist with extensive experience in domestic and international policy-making as well as academia. With a strong background in negotiation, government, international trade, foreign direct investment, international relations, and Spanish, he possesses a comprehensive set of skills and knowledge enabling him to succeed in his career. His education includes an LL.M. and doctoral studies in International Trade Law from the University of Michigan Law School, a Master of Philosophy in Latin American Studies from the University of Oxford, and a Ph.D. in International Law, Summa Cum Laude from the University of Bern, Switzerland, among others.
Mr. Echandi has previously worked at the World Trade Institute at the University of Bern as Director of the Program on International Investment, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Costa Rica as Ambassador, and the Ministry of Foreign Trade of Costa Rica as Chief Negotiator for the Association Agreement between Central America and the European Union, among others. He has also been a Lead Trade Specialist at the World Bank Group, and a Global Lead Investment Policy & Promotion at the same institution.
As an adjunct professor of law and Visiting Fellow at Georgetown University Law Center, his expertise also places him in an excellent position to impart his knowledge to students. Throughout his career, Mr. Echandi has demonstrated his ability to work collaboratively with others, and he continues to be a valuable asset to the international community.
