Carissa Toyama is a distinguished professional with a background that spans the healthcare and human resources sectors.

She holds a Magna Cum Laude degree in Registered Nursing from Samuel Merritt University and pursued Nutrition Sciences with an emphasis in Physiology & Metabolism at the University of California, Berkeley.

Carissa's career at Forward has been marked by significant roles such as Lead in People Programs & HR Ops, Central Operations Lead, and San Francisco Site Lead. Prior to these positions, she served as a Registered Nurse within the organization.

Before joining Forward, Carissa gained valuable experience at the VA Palo Alto Health Care System, where she excelled as an ICU Registered Nurse and Chair of the QI Special Project Committee, as well as ICU VALOR roles.
