Mijanur Rahman is a seasoned professional with over 20 years of experience in various roles related to climate change, environment, resource mobilization, social forestry, biodiversity conservation, and project management.
Currently, he serves as a Programme Specialist focusing on Climate Change, Environment, and Resource Mobilization at BRAC, a role he has held since September 2019.
His previous engagements include positions such as Social Forestry Specialist at the Coastal Embankment Improvement Project under CNRS, Project Manager at the Local Government Initiative on Climate Change (LoGIC) with HELVETAS, and Protected Area Management Advisor at the Sundarbans Management Project under GOPA, managed by GIZ.
Mijanur has also worked as a Senior Specialist at CEGIS, NRM & Livelihoods Coordinator at the Climate Resilient Ecosystem and Livelihood project funded by USAID, and Protected Area Management Expert at the Sundarban Environmental And Livelihoods Security Project funded by the EU, among others.
His educational background includes a PhD in Botany specializing in Biodiversity and Conservation Ecology, an MS in Forestry with a focus on Forest Management and Community Development, and a BSc in Forestry & Wood Technology covering Ecology, Silviculture, and Entomology, among other subjects.
Throughout his career, Mijanur has demonstrated a strong commitment to environmental conservation, sustainable development, and community resilience to climate change, showcasing his expertise in project implementation, natural resource management, and biodiversity preservation.
