Amy Williams
Amy Williams is a 25-year youth ministry veteran with a passion for ministering to teens involved in gangs, youth on probation/parole and those lost in the criminal justice system. She is a certified Gang Intervention Specialist and a National Institute of Juvenile Justice Ministries steering committee member who has committed herself to ending mass incarceration and dismantling the school-to-prison pipeline.
With a Bachelor's degree in Journalism and Mass Communications from the University of North Carolina and a Master's degree in Written and Corporate Communications from National Louis University, Amy has worked as a Youth Pastor, Reentry Coordinator for paroled youth, Youth Mentor and Advocate in the youth ministry, Christian community development, and nonprofit sectors. She has co-founded and led various organizations, including Community IMPACT and the Christian Basketball Academy, and has been involved with Urban Young Life.
As a trainer and speaker for national ministries such as Youth Specialties National Team, CCDA, and Urban Youth Workers Institute, Amy teaches and trains churches and ministries across the country about a variety of issues, including the school-to-prison pipeline, mass incarceration, and their responsibility to the prisoner and returning citizen.
Through her organization, A Hope Dealer, Amy does street outreach to young people in a Latino gang neighborhood in Chicago's Humboldt Park community. She is a beacon of hope for many youths who need guidance and mentorship as they navigate the complexities of life in the criminal justice system.
