Abin Kuriakose
Abin Kuriakose is a seasoned professional in economic and entrepreneurship development. He currently leads the innovation and venture strategy for the City of Chicago's economic development organization, World Business Chicago. In this role, he manages various innovation and venture programs, including the flagship Chicago Venture Summit, Startup Chicago ThinkChicago, and Venture Engine.
Prior to his current position, Abin served in various leadership roles in Cook County Government, including as Deputy Chief of Staff, Public Policy Director, and Community Affairs & Engagement Director for the Board of Commissioners. He was the lead policy staffer for the Cook County Board’s Pension Committee and Workforce, Housing, & Community Development Committee, and was instrumental in developing OpenPensions.org, one of the first open-data platforms in county government.
Abin's expertise encompasses public-private partnerships, tech-based economic development, entrepreneurship strategy, public policy, and civic engagement. He is a member of the 2022 Emerging Leaders class of the Chicago Council on Global Affairs and was recognized as one of "35 under 35 Young Leaders Making an Impact" by Chicago Scholars in 2017.
