Belusic-Vollor's academic background includes a Master of Arts in Modern British Literature from City University of New York-Brooklyn College and a BA in Secondary English Education from SUNY Oneonta. 
Belusic-Vollor has held various executive and director-level positions in the New York City Department of Education, including Senior Executive Director of the Office of the First Deputy Chancellor, Senior Executive Director of the Office of Talent Management and Innovation, and Executive Director of the Office of Post Secondary Readiness. She developed NYC DOE's next-generation Career and Technical Education (CTE) schools and programs, including the award-winning P-TECH 9-14 model, the Academy for Software Engineering, South Brooklyn Community High School, and the Expanded Success Initiative. Her focus has been on increasing the number of black and Latino young men who graduate college and are career-ready.
