Ethan Porter

Ethan Porter is an assistant professor at George Washington University, affiliated with the School of Media and Public Affairs and the Political Science Department. He also serves as the Cluster Lead of the Misinformation/Disinformation Lab at GW's Institute for Data, Democracy and Politics. Ethan's research is widely published in reputable journals like the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Journal of Politics, British Journal of Political Science, Political Behavior, and Political Communication. In addition to academic publications, he has contributed to renowned outlets such as The New York Times and The Washington Post. Ethan has secured funding from prominent institutions like the National Science Foundation, the Social Science Research Council, and the Omidyar Network. He completed his PhD in Political Science at the University of Chicago. Ethan is notably known for co-authoring the book 'False Alarm: The Truth About Political Mistruths in the Trump Era' with Thomas J. Wood, published by Cambridge University Press in 2019.
