Ethan Miller

Ethan Miller is a distinguished computer engineering professor at UC Santa Cruz and a notable member of the Storage Systems Research Center at UCSC. With over 25 years of experience, he has made significant contributions to the field of storage systems. Ethan has an extensive publication record, having authored more than 150 papers for conferences and journals. Additionally, he has successfully guided numerous graduate students, supervising the completion of 12 PhD and over 30 master's students.
Outside academia, Ethan has ventured into the industry, collaborating with Pure Storage, a flash storage startup, since November 2009. He has also lent his expertise as an expert witness for multiple intellectual property cases within the storage industry. Ethan's key research interests span a wide range of topics within computer engineering, including file and storage systems, operating systems, computer security, distributed systems, and information retrieval systems.
Ethan Miller holds a Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Sc.B. from Brown University. He currently serves as a Professor and the Veritas Presidential Chair in Storage at the University of California, Santa Cruz. Previously, Ethan held the position of Director at the Center for Research in Storage Systems and was an Associate Director at the Storage Systems Research Center at UC Santa Cruz.
