Esther Dyson
Esther Dyson is the executive founder of Wellville, a 10-year nonprofit project devoted to demonstrating how investing in community health can return profits to investors and health to participants and communities.123456 She is the lead for Muskegon County, MI, one of five communities Wellville advises, and is involved in policy and fundraising for the project.12
Dyson is also an active angel investor, best-selling author, board member and advisor concentrating on emerging markets and technologies, new space and health.23 She has invested in numerous health and technology startups such as 23andMe, Omada Health, PatientsLikeMe, and Zipongo.45
Previously, Dyson founded EDventure Holdings, where she produced the influential technology newsletter Release 1.0 and organized the annual PC Forum industry conference.36 She served as the founding chairman of ICANN from 1998-2000.36
In 2008-2009, Dyson trained as a backup cosmonaut at the Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center in Russia.36 She continues to serve on the boards of various nonprofits focused on technology, health, and space, including the Long Now Foundation, Sunlight Foundation, and Commercial Spaceflight Federation.67
