Erika Woolsey

Erika Woolsey is a renowned marine biologist, National Geographic Explorer, designer, and Co-Founder of the Hydrous. She is currently serving as a Visiting Scholar at the Virtual Human Interaction Lab at Stanford University. Erika is a 2018-2019 Ocean Design Fellow with the Stanford d.school and the Center for Ocean Solutions.

Her educational background includes studying Coral Reef Ecology and Biological Oceanography at the Bermuda Institute of Ocean Science, Biology at Duke University, a Masters of Applied Science in Coastal Management from the University of Sydney, and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Marine Biology from James Cook University.

Throughout her career, Erika has held various roles such as Visiting Scholar at Stanford University, National Geographic Explorer, Chief Scientist & CEO/Co-Founder at The Hydrous, Teaching Faculty at Harvard Extension School, Senior Designer at People Rocket, and Ocean Design Fellow at Stanford University at Hasso Plattner Institute of Design at Stanford (d.school). She has also worked as a Research Intern to the Chief of Science at the California Academy of Sciences and volunteered for Scientists in Schools at CSIRO.
