Erik Hansen

Erik Hansen is the Director of Community Planning and Economic Development (CPED) for the City of Minneapolis. He was appointed to this position in December 2023 after serving as the Interim Director since June 2023. Hansen has a long history of involvement in city planning, having worked in various roles within the Minneapolis city government for over 20 years, including as the Director of Economic Policy & Development from September 2018 to December 2023.123

Hansen's professional focus is on stimulating the local economy and creating equitable outcomes without displacing residents. He emphasizes collaboration with public and private partners to enhance community living conditions. His past roles have included managing commercial real estate projects and supporting small businesses, particularly in underserved areas of Minneapolis.12

Hansen's nomination as CPED Director was confirmed by the Minneapolis City Council on December 8, 2023, solidifying his leadership role in overseeing various city functions, including building code enforcement and business licensing.23
