Eric Lichtenheld

Eric Lichtenheld is the Managing Director of Heliae's operations in Europe and Canada, a position he has held since May 2023. He has over 40 years of experience in managing and transforming complex multi-site operations across various industries, including biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and consumer products. His educational background includes a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Michigan and an MBA in Finance and Operations Management from Loyola University Chicago.12

In his current role, Lichtenheld is leading Heliae's international expansion efforts and oversees subsidiaries in Australia and Latin America. He has previously served as the President and CEO of Heliae Development, LLC, where he played a pivotal role in advancing algal growth systems and significantly increasing sales revenue.12 His leadership experience also includes positions at ACCO Brands, where he implemented lean manufacturing principles, and Almidones Mexicanos, where he successfully turned around a struggling operation.1

Lichtenheld's career is marked by his commitment to operational excellence and strategic leadership. He has been involved in various board roles, including at Allagi Bio and Biosphere 2, and is known for his effective communication skills that inspire teams across different cultures.13 He is also a published author on topics related to his field and holds an IFR Rating – Private Pilot from the FAA, reflecting his diverse interests outside of work.12

His personal interests include karate, aviation, and farming, where he applies his operational expertise to sustainable agriculture practices on a 200-acre farm with his wife.1
